Ford Mustang GT | For better or worse

Europeans are ecstatic about the Ford Mustang finally – and officially – coming (back) to the continent. Significant technical changes were necessary though, to make the new Stang suitable for the old world. We travelled to Texas to have a go in the 2015 Mustang, and Ford was kind enough to roll out two test cars. Something turned out to be very wrong though. Read more

BMW Z1 | Zukunft

The BMW Z1 is an interesting little car in many different ways. It wasn’t just the start of a completely new series back in 1989. It was also a technical tour de force that costed as much as an option loaded 735i. Sadly, this high level of innovation also kept it from showing up in American showrooms.

Ferrari Testarossa | Renewed Love

After spending almost thirty years in the shadows, the iconic Ferrari Testarossa has caught the attention of collectors and auctioneers. Not even five years ago these greatly under-appreciated Grand Tourers were available for less than forty thousand dollars. But today, with the classic car market almost spiralling out of control, prices are rising rapidly and everybody is talking about how cool the Testarossa actually is…

Austin-Healey 100-6 | Almost a Cobra

Before Texan Carrol Shelby teamed up with British sports car manufacturer AC to establish one of the most legendary race cars in automotive history, he approached Austin-Healey. His idea was to put a GM V8 in the nose of a Big Healey and take it to the race track. Neither Donald Healey nor General Motors liked this idea very much, so Shelby moved on and took his plans elsewhere. We took an Austin-Healey 100-6 for a spin and enjoyed a form of motoring that sadly disappeared long ago.

MG ZT 260 | Steaming hot

A British sports saloon paired with an American V8. Sounds like the perfect marriage right? Raw New World performance contained by Old World sophistication. What could possibly go wrong?

Aston Martin DB2 DHC | New Era

In 1950 Aston Martin replaced the 2-Litre Sports with the DB2. Next to a stunning design both chassis and suspension were brand new and the old 2.0 four cylinder was replaced with a 2.6 liter straight six. Later that same year the DB2 Drop Head Coupé was announced and both models stayed in production until 1953. From a very limited production run of only 102 DHC models, we drove a fully restored example from 1952.

TVR Cerbera 4.5 S | Formula 1 genes

The Cerbera was the first 2+2 (that’s a very cramped four seater in layman’s terms) from a small British company known only for hardcore two seater sports cars. That did not mean TVR wanted to become more family oriented, because the name Cerbera was derived from a three headed hellhound and it had a home-grown V8 based on Formula 1 technology. In 1996 it looked like TVR went absolutely bonkers.

Brabus 190E 3.6S | Tuning Legend

‘Never meet your heroes’ is an overused term, yet almost everybody seems to believe in it. For petrol heads (or gear heads in the US) that would lead to never driving the cars you dreamt about as a kid to avoid bitter disappointment. So, when the manufacturer of one of my childhood dream cars invited me to come over to the factory for a guided tour, to have lunch and then finally drive a hero from days gone by, I should have declined right? Yea right!
